Welcome! Are you in the right spot? Is this the Jennifer you were looking for? If so, welcome! If not, I’ll try to keep you entertained while you’re here.

I am a teacher, director, wifey and mom to a puppy. After receiving a BFA from The University of Evansville and an MFA from University of San Diego/Old Globe Theatre, I’ve focused on teaching and directing. I’ve lived in Oklahoma, Indiana, Chicago, LA, Denver, San Diego, New York City, and now Bakersfield. We decided, after living the life of professional actors/gypsies, to settle in Jon’s hometown of Bakersfield, CA and have a “normal” life.

I enjoy teaching at Bakersfield College (we just closed The House of Blue Leaves) and, on occasion Cal State Bakersfield. I hop around and teach in Fresno and San Diego as well. I’m looking forward to teaching for The La Jolla Playhouse’s summer conservatory.

It’s always good to keep pride in check. Enjoy these quotes:

“Great casting!” - a “compliment” from an audience member after my recent show. Like all I did was cast it and turn the lights on and off.

“Directing is 90% casting” (see comments above)

“Do we have to write that down?” - an intro to acting student’s response to my rousing story of working with Arthur Miller

“We couldn’t have done it without you.” - an actor from a show I recently  directed. Ahem, I directed - like, put in 600 hrs. a week along with blood, sweat, and many tears. Of course you couldn’t have done it without me!

“Directing isn’t something you have to like study, it’s just common sense.”

-a senior at FPU casually enlightened me while I was in rehearsal

“Well what do you know, after 12 years of doin’ this stuff, you can still learn something new.”

-a student from my intro to acting who is all of 20 years old.

...and before honor, comes humility

    -Proverbs 15:33

I’m still recovering from the mono I had for a year. I wish mono was as adorable as this microbe from thinkgeek. Thanks Dan and Laura!
